We are hiring a Business Development Director to lead new-business growth across the East Coast. You will own the outbound strategy, pipeline health, forecasting, and development of a team of 6+ Business Development Managers.
This is a player-coach role. Alongside leading the team, you will stay close to senior client conversations and complex pursuits, bringing the right Vention experts into discovery and solution shaping. As we scale toward $250M+ in annual recurring revenue, you will help evolve the New York GTM model and turn it into repeatable growth.
- Hire, coach, and scale a team of 6+ Business Development Managers
- Run weekly 1:1s, performance check-ins, and real-time coaching
- Own team pipeline health, accuracy, forecasting, and quota delivery
- Set and evolve GTM strategy – including ICP focus, tooling, and sales playbooks
- Partner with marketing on campaigns, content, and lead-gen strategy
- Collaborate with delivery, legal, and leadership on proposal development
- Use AI tooling and workflow automation (e.g. n8n, Clay, Apollo) to improve efficiency and ensure your team is set for success
- Report directly to executive leadership on team performance and GTM health
- Cultivate a high-trust, high-performance team culture rooted in ownership and clarity
- 7+ years of experience in B2B sales or GTM roles, with 3+ in a leadership or strategic ownership position
- Strong consultative selling expertise
- Proven track record of closing $1M+ deals, self-sourced, multi-year, multi-stakeholder deals, selling to CTOs and engineering leadership within the target ICP
- Experience building and executing repeatable outbound strategies, GTM plans, and partner channels in fast-growth environments
- Team management: 2–3 years leading and mentoring talent as a player-coach, including hiring and firing responsibilities
- Deep understanding of software development, product strategy, and engineering organizations
- Outcome-driven mindset, with a passion for building teams, playbooks, strategies, and trusted client relationships
- Nice to have: Experience with AI-enabled sales tools and GTM automation is a strong plus
