We are expanding our presence in San Francisco and hiring a Business Development Director to establish and lead our West Coast GTM motion. You will define the regional strategy, build the first business development team, develop relationships across the startup and venture ecosystem, and lead complex new-business opportunities.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will stay directly involved in $1M+ pursuits while building a scalable regional model with support from Vention’s established delivery, solution, and marketing teams.
- Build and coach a world-class business development team from scratch
- Launch, develop and lead the West Coast GTM strategy — from ICP to outbound execution
- Source and close complex $1M+ ACV deals with high-growth, VC-backed startups
- Partner with marketing to shape campaigns and generate qualified leads
- Represent Vention in the startup and venture ecosystem through events and relationships
- Use AI tooling (n8n, Apollo, etc.) to build a scalable, high-efficiency GTM strategy
- Collaborate with legal, delivery, and talent teams to close well-structured, client-aligned deals
- Report directly to company leadership on pipeline, team health, and GTM performance
- 7+ years of experience in B2B sales or GTM roles, with 3+ in a leadership or strategic ownership position
- Strong consultative selling expertise
- Proven track record of closing $1M+ deals, self-sourced, multi-year, multi-stakeholder deals, selling to CTOs and engineering leadership within the target ICP
- Experience building and executing repeatable outbound strategies, GTM plans, and partner channels in fast-growth environments
- Team management: 2–3 years leading and mentoring talent as a player-coach, including hiring and firing responsibilities
- Deep understanding of software development, product strategy, and engineering organizations
- Outcome-driven mindset, with a passion for building teams, playbooks, strategies, and trusted client relationships
- Based in San Francisco and excited about in-person collaboration
- Experience with AI-enabled sales tools and GTM automation (nice to have)
