We’re looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to build and expand Vention’s presence on the West Coast, while building and closing a $1M+ annual book of business with high-growth technology companies. You’ll own the full new-business cycle, from first outreach through discovery and close.

This is a hands-on sales role with a clear path to leadership level and the opportunity to build and lead a West Coast sales team later. You don’t have to carry the technical sale alone: you’ll work directly with CTOs and founders on AI-enabled delivery, modernization, and new product development, with Vention’s CTOs, Solution Architects, Delivery leaders, and AI experts joining when deeper technical expertise can move the opportunity forward.

Reporting to the VP of Business Development, you’ll own your pipeline while helping grow our West Coast business as Vention moves toward $250M+ in annual revenue. The role gives you the autonomy to decide what works for the West Coast, with an established global commercial organization behind you.

Vention today

Vention helps companies build new products and improve how existing software is developed through AI-enabled delivery and Agentic Engineering.

For established products, we identify where AI can reduce development time, improve quality, or lower cost, then focus on the areas with the greatest business impact. For new products, we help clients put the right AI-enabled delivery approach in place from the start.

We have applied the same principles internally, developing the practices and frameworks behind Spec-Driven Development and Agentic Engineering and now using them in client work.

This is backed by more than 20 years of software engineering experience, 250+ active clients today, and successful partnerships with companies including IBM, PayPal, PwC, Costa Coffee, and ClassPass.

In the UK, you’ll join our established London office and commercial team, with a local base for client meetings, events, and relationship-building.

What you’ll do
  • Build and close a $1M+ annual book of business with high-growth technology companies, owning the full new-business cycle from research and outreach through discovery, proposals, and close
  • Define and execute Vention’s West Coast GTM strategy across ICP, market priorities, channels, and regional growth targets
  • Build relationships across the Bay Area startup, venture, and technology ecosystem, including founders, CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and investors, and turn them into qualified new-business opportunities
  • Build a repeatable pipeline engine across outbound, referrals, and strategic partnerships, using TechTables, executive briefings, assessments, case studies, and technical content to open relevant senior conversations
  • Work directly with client CTOs and founders, alongside Vention’s Solution Architects, Delivery leaders, AI experts, and engineers, to turn client priorities into credible solutions and a clear execution path
  • Bring market feedback into Vention’s GTM strategy, services, and positioning as the West Coast business develops
  • Use AI-powered sales workflows and modern GTM tooling to improve research, targeting, outreach, and account insight without automating conversations for its own sake
What you bring
  • 6+ years of experience in tech consultative sales or talent/recruitment sales
  • Proven ability to self-source and close complex deals, owning opportunities from first contact through close
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or managing small sales teams, with the interest and ability to grow into building and leading a team
  • Confidence working with both technical and executive stakeholders, including founders, CTOs, and senior business leaders
  • Strong relationships or relevant experience across the Bay Area startup, venture, and technology ecosystem
  • A strong grasp of product development, software delivery, and how fast-moving technology companies scale
  • The ability to sell consultatively around business outcomes rather than lead with headcount or rate cards
  • Experience using modern GTM tooling and AI-powered sales workflows to improve research, targeting, and opportunity development
  • High autonomy and ownership: you move quickly, make sound judgment calls, and stay accountable for outcomes
  • A builder mindset: you are comfortable testing approaches, improving the playbook, and bringing structure as you go
What you’ll have behind you
  • The freedom to build the West Coast motion. You will decide how Vention takes its new delivery model to market, which relationships to prioritize, and how to build the local team
  • An AI-enabled delivery model to take to market. Spec-Driven Development and Agentic Engineering give you a concrete way to help founders and CTOs improve speed, quality, and cost across software delivery
  • Technical authority in the room. CTOs, Solution Architects, Delivery leaders, and AI experts join client conversations early, bringing the engineering depth needed to develop complex opportunities
  • Client proof that carries weight. Vention has worked with more than 550 clients, including ClassPass, which we supported from its Series A stage through its growth into a $1B business operating across 30+ countries
What you’ll get

Alongside the ownership to build the West Coast team and shape how we grow in the Bay Area, you’ll also have:

  • Hybrid work with two days per week in our San Francisco office
  • 100% employer-covered medical insurance, including dependents
  • Dental and vision coverage available for employees and dependents
  • 401(k) with a 4% company match
  • Leadership coaching and a professional development budget
  • Two weeks of PTO in the first year, increasing with tenure
  • Winter break and two volunteer days
  • Access to employee discounts through the Insperity Marketplace
  • A pet-friendly office and regular team events
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Vention is an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to building a team with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Employment decisions are based on qualifications and business needs.
